The Kunstmuseum Mülheim an der Ruhr can look back at an eventful history. Its origins go back to 1909 and the private collection of art and cultural items owned by Robert Rheinen, a citizen of Mülheim. Over time, the museum moved several times to various locations within the city. Since 1994, the Kunstmuseum has been at home in the listed building once occupied by the main post office in the center of Mülheim, right next to the Medienhaus (Media House).
