The open call for the "Mülheim Calling 2025" biennial has generated a strong response from artists. From 140 applications, the jury selected 30 works to be presented at the Mülheim an der Ruhr Art Museum. The "open call" format has attracted both artists who have previously been exhibited at the art museum and artists we have not yet seen. The goal is to open up the museum and encourage participation by the city's community. The selection process for this year's exhibition was overseen by a jury that, with a view to creating an exciting exhibition itinerary, chose 30 artistic positions that engage with one another. On the one hand, they bridge the gap between an older and a younger generation, and on the other, they bring different social groups and communities into creative exchange.
"MÜLHEIM CALLING" is a new exhibition format that showcases the city's diverse artists and activates the creative potential within the city's society.
The former annual exhibition of the Mülheim Artists' Association will be presented in a new biennial exhibition format starting in 2025. MÜLHEIM CALLING will enter its first edition this year under the patronage of Dr. Daniela Grobe, Head of the Cultural Affairs Department of the City of Mülheim an der Ruhr.
MÜLHEIM CALLING is curated by the Kunstmuseum Mülheim an der Ruhr and takes place every two years.
The Mülheimer Kunstverein e.V. is donating a €2,500 artist prize. The prize will go to an female artist participating in the exhibition and will also be awarded every two years.
