museum_lab@HRW is a joint exhibition project of Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the Kunstmuseum Mülheim an der Ruhr. The exhibition area at the Parkstadt location on Wisollstraße in the foyer of the building serves as both a transit space and a meeting place. Regular exhibitions with young artists foster connections between art and science.
For the exhibition at museum_lab@HRW, artist Maria Reneé Morales Garcia provides insights into her current work, including paintings recently created during her residency in Mülheim an der Ruhr. Renée’s artistic practice explores questions of identity and intersectionality. She uses a variety of materials, which she brings together in spatial installations. Her perspective is decolonial and queer-feminist, and she invites us to question our own identity as well as our position within society.
Maria Reneé Morales Garcia (*1997, Guatemala) is the recipient of the "Young Art" scholarship from the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr for 2024–2026. The two-year studio scholarship at Styrum Castle honors a graduate of the final year classes of the art academies in Münster and Düsseldorf, as well as the Folkwang University in Essen.
